Pensare la discriminazione vuol anche dire interrogarsi ed interrogare la diversità etnica e razziale. Vuol dire interrogarsi intorno alle basi di una possibile convivenza, in una società che non sempre appare aperta alle forme del métissage sociale e culturale. Se le ragioni di inquietudine che percorrono il mondo contemporaneo sono almeno in parte legate alle trasformazioni che lo investono e che avvengono velocemente sotto i nostri occhi, il tema della discriminazione etnica e razziale costituisce certamente una nuova frontiera di riflessione. Le prospettive per descriverla sono molte: da quella giuridica a quella storica, antropologica, sociologica o, ancora, economica e, nondimeno, psicologica e psicoanalitica. Questo Dizionario tenta una sintesi selezionando circa sessanta voci. Pochi termini di inquadramento teorico, per lasciare spazio alle voci che rimandano agli ambiti specifici in cui questa forma di discriminazione è presente: il lavoro, l’alloggio, l’educazione, i servizi, la sicurezza. A seguire, un gruppo di lemmi, potremmo dire di servizio, che spiegano leggi, raccomandazioni, codici, nonché il significato di organismi e sigle in cui oggi è facile imbattersi. Se la discriminazione costituisce una delle forme – patologiche ed ubiquitarie – delle relazioni umane, l’arte è certamente in grado di darne una lettura immediata.
